THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice focuses on various aspects of family-related matters. She focuses a majority of her work on divorce cases, alimony disputes, the distribution of marital property child custody battles, child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues, step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year 2019. She assists parties in resolving their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who would like to avoid the litigation and court process.

After finishing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students of her class. Ashley was a Note Editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrated her commitment to legal research and scholarship.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Subsequently, in 2014 she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, increasing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases involving child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice extended beyond her legal career as she served as a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness regarding human trafficking within the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law, including custody, divorce, child maintenance and guardianships – as well as estate and financial planning – wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.

Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the aim of providing an individual approach to each client's needs.
